Chottanikkara Grama Panchayat is an important local self-government institution located in Kanayannur Taluk of Ernakulam District, Kerala. The famous Chottanikkara Bhagavathy Temple, one of the most renowned pilgrimage centres in the state, is situated within this Panchayat. The Panchayat falls under the jurisdiction of Mulanthuruthy Block Panchayat and is located in the southern suburban region of Kochi city. It mainly extends across the villages of Kureekkad and Kanayannur.

Chottanikkara Grama Panchayat is situated in the southern suburbs of Kochi and forms part of the Mulanthuruthy Block Panchayat. The Panchayat is primarily spread across the villages of Kureekkad and Kanayannur.

The boundaries of Chottanikkara Grama Panchayat are as follows:

  • North: Thiruvaniyoor Grama Panchayat, Vadavucode-Puthencruz Grama Panchayat, and Tripunithura Municipality.
  • East: Thiruvaniyoor Grama Panchayat.
  • South: Mulanthuruthy Grama Panchayat.
  • West: Udayamperoor Grama Panchayat and Tripunithura Municipality.

3. Area and Topography

  • Area: The Panchayat has a total area of approximately 12.68 square kilometres.
  • Topography: Located in Kerala’s midland region, the area is characterized by a mixed landscape of hills, slopes, paddy fields, and plains.

The Panchayat includes several important localities and wards such as Chottanikkara, Kanayannur, Eruveli, Kureekkad, Vattukunnu, Palace Square, Kottayathuppara, Kadungamangalam, Pallimala, and Ambadimala.

Due to its close proximity to Kochi city, Chottanikkara Grama Panchayat is undergoing rapid urbanization and forms an integral part of the Kochi urban agglomeration.
